Importing your companies, people, and deals into PipelineDeals is a quick and easy way to add data to your account from a CSV or Excel file.

You can import data in a CSV (comma separated value) file format, or from an Excel file with an .XLS or .XLXS extension.
Before you import your data, you'll want to make sure your file is formatted correctly and your account is ready for the data you are going to import.

Please look over our list of system fields. If you need to include a field that we do not have, you will need to create your custom field before you complete your import to ensure all of your data is mapped correctly. Only an admin can create custom fields.
If you have companies, people, and deals to import, we suggest importing them in the following order:
Please note that if you do not have any Company custom fields, you can move straight to your People import. If you have a column for Company name, work phone, work address, work city, work state and work postal Code in your People Import spreadsheet, we will import that Company into the Company tab as well.
Can I import companies, people, and deals during a single import?
You'll need to import companies, people, and deals separately. Please follow our best practices listed above.
How do I add custom fields?
An admin can add custom fields in Account Settings.
How do I import my entries for a Picklist Custom field?
In your spreadsheet, you can either separate the picklist entries with commas or create a separate column for each picklist entry that you want to add for that record in that field.
Is there a limit on how many records I can import?
No. But if you have more than 50,000 company, deal, or person records in PipelineDeals, you'll need to create a filter to view the data.
If you anticipate having 50,000 or more company, deal, or person records in PipelineDeals, we recommend adding custom fields or tags to each record that you can filter on in the system.
Can I update existing companies, people, or deals via import?
Yes, we do offer this feature by request. Please read this article and contact us for assistance.
Can you import tasks and events?
No, there is not a way for you to import tasks or events directly in PipelineDeals.
Can you import Activities?
Yes, you can import activities into PipelineDeals. Keep in mind that when you import an Activity, the timestamp will be for the date and time of the import. If you would like the activity to have a particular category type, you will need the header of your spreadsheet to match the category title that exists in PipelineDeals. Then when you are in PipelineDeals make sure you are mapping the field to our Activity field. Please see below for examples.
Why didn't my custom data import?
Unless you are importing a text field, you will need to make sure that your data an the format match identically to what you have in PipelineDeals. Otherwise, the data will not import or could import incorrectly. Click here to learn how to undo your import.
